The Strike Committee for Commuters wants our Chapter Room for the purposes of using it as a telephone center for commuters Strike. They would like it because it's supposed to have a telephone tie-in box. However, the janitor's closet next door has the same facilities, although they do not want it because it has no windows. The proposal was made to refuse the request, but that we pay for the wire tie-in to show our cooperation with strike committee. They say that they will move our equipment out of the room and back into it when it is no longer needed. Also they say that equipment will be placed in a safe place, in a room down the corridor.
Problems to be encountered include that we cannot be absolutely sure that our equipment will be completely safe improperly handled. We can have them sign a legal document through Notary Public to this effect. Providing that we have the tie-in, the phones can be put in the hall, with us paying for the wiring. They will provide a list of all people working there. A representative will come tonight to discuss further this processing.
It needs to be mentioned that they (i.e. Strike Committee for Commuters) already have Mass. Review across the hall.
Respectfully Yours
W. Leo Edmonds
